‘C Star Singing Competition 2007’ formally launches on 14th September 2007.

‘C Star’ or ‘Chinese Star’ is a large-scale UK-Chinese singing competition that initiated and organised by CAGE (China And Global Entertainment) Consulting and Dragon Page Artists, with a primary aim of finding Chinese musical talents and developing them into an international superstar.

As a nation-wide event reaching the whole Chinese community in the UK, C Star will definitely gather different types of UK-Chinese communities together, presenting a tasteful modern Chinese popular culture to the whole Chinese community to the British and even the rest of the world.

It can be said that C Star, differentiated from other past events, has its unique creativity, content and format. Firstly, C Star organisers will invite experienced music managers, A&R people to present the competition as judges. In the meantime, all the audience will be able to decide the winners by voting for them. Moreover, C Star competition will be broadcasted 24/7 online at its official website: www.c-star.co.uk. This means that the public can actively take part in the competition and get greatly involved in the birth of the new stars. More importantly, the final winner is guaranteed an artist management contract, and other contestants within the final stage of the competition may also have the chance to get a recording deal. The competition is open to anyone who is of Chinese origin, who was born or lived in the UK for a number of years, including Chinese from Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau or other countries as well as British Born Chinese. C Star organisers stated that they would welcome candidates from different social backgrounds and professions, above the age of 16- all they need is the passion for music.

The applications need to be made online starting from 14th September 2007 which ends on 14th October 2007, with no limitation on the number of applicants. There will be 4 main stages in the competition. Audition will take place in 6 cities throughout the UK. The date and location will be 20th October in London, 22nd in Cardiff, 24th in Nottingham, 26th in Manchester, 28th in Newcastle and 30th in Edinburgh. The second and third stage of further selection will start form 10th November to 2nd December in London. The final will take place on 8 December 2007 in London, with a live show.

For its initial planning to its launching, C Star has received great help and support from local authorities, the media, entertainment and cultural sectors, and other social groups in the UK and China, including Islington Chinese Association, Camden Chinese Community Centre, London Chinese Community Centre, UK Newland Ltd, City Showcase, China H. Brothers Music Ltd, EE Media BuCool Records, KKP Records, CSSA etc. In addition, many famous Chinese artists have showed their interest and commendation towards C Star, namely Super Boy 2007 –Jie Zhang, Super Girl 2005-Liangying Zhang, Taiwanese music producer-Weiren Yuan, Hong Kong TVB presenter Zhong Cao, etc.

C Star比賽將向所有英國華人開放，包括來自大陸、香港、澳門、臺灣,東南亞等地區或國家的華人，以及在英國本地出生的華人。主辦方表示將歡迎來自不同社 會背景和職業的、16歲以上的、對流行音樂有飽滿的熱情的華人報名參加。C Star將從2007年9月14日開始正式接受選手在網上報名，10月14日截止，報名人數不限。正式比賽主要分為4個階段：首先在全英國6個城市舉行初 選。具體日程安排分別為10月20日倫敦，22日卡地夫，24日諾丁漢，26日曼切斯特，28日紐卡斯爾，30日愛丁堡。 隨後，第二和第三個階段的篩選比賽將於11月10日—12月2日在倫敦舉行，由評委和觀眾投票選出可以進入到最後的決賽的選手。最後的決賽將於12月8日 在倫敦舉行，屆時除了有多位中英音樂專業人士出席外，還會進行現場直播。
